Inspired by nature, the garden, flora and fauna, medieval art and iconography,
illuminated manuscripts, antique botanicals, folklore and myth. I like to paint, draw
and sculpt in miniature…
I’ve studied Fine Art and Illustration and then worked as a graphic designer while
painting in my spare time. I opened my Etsy shop as way to focus and fuel my
creativity.
Egg tempera painting with gold leaf has been a concentration of mine for years.
I find its religious, classical and medieval connotations so compelling. The prints in
my shop are high quality reproductions of various egg tempera paintings I’ve made
over the years.
Painting in acrylics on glass to create my ornaments came about when I was looking
for a way to showcase my botanical painting three dimensionally. As a result it has
combined my love of art and home decoration with that of seasonal holidays and
celebration. I have created many pieces that I hope will serve as keepsake ornaments
for years to come.
With my nature inspired jewelry and charms I like to think that each little vignette
that I carve and sculpt from clay is pulled from the illuminated margins of old
manuscripts. Little gold embellished “jewels” to wear and tell a story like an
illustrated detail from a book. Every little pictorial sculpture is basically a scene that
I’ve witnessed in my own garden.
I’ve recently moved from suburban New Jersey USA to rural Norfolk, England.
Obviously, life has a different pace around here and I’m slowly getting used to it.
Mainly I’m looking forward to the inspiration this new (old) world has to offer.
